Company profile Young Digital Planet SA has operated in the interactive software market since 1990, primarily as a developer and publisher of interactive educational software packages and e-Learning technologies.
The company's main product lines include:
- language learning software,
- curriculum education software packages,
- integrated eLearning platform.
Extensive experience built over the years of activity has allowed YDP to become a world leader in delivering interactive language learning solutions for individual, educational, and corporate clients. The company flagship product "EuroPlus+ REWARD" has become one of the most popular software packages for learning English in Europe. YDP sells this product line including interactive courses for learning German and French, in over 25 countries world-wide. The educational content of YDP language titles is based on textbook publishers such as: Macmillan ELT (Oxford), Diesterweg Verlag (Frankfurt), SM Ediciones (Madrid) and Cle Nathan (Paris).
In 2000 YDP launched the world's largest series of electronic textbooks covering the majority of school subjects at primary and secondary school level. The eduROM line consists of over 70 CD-ROMs in: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Science, Mathematics, Geography and History. This series is currently published in a number of languages, including English, Dutch, Chinese, Russian, Czech, Polish and others, fulfilling their national curriculum. YDP develops its products and educational methodology with the highest attention to detail on aesthetic appeal and quality of its educational material.
Since 2001 YDP has co-operated with a number of textbook publishers from several European countries developing educational software in a variety of subjects as a natural extension of their traditional paper teaching media. All new projects developed by YDP incorporate technologies which make the final products independent of the delivery medium, so they can be used both in off-line and on-line environments.
2001 was also the year YDP launched their proprietary eLearning platform, Leo. This is a complete e-Learning solution for all parties involved in on-line training and education. The system’s comprehensive design encompasses all phases of the educational process: from content creation to delivery, administration, learners' management, communication and progress monitoring, testing and reporting.
Vast experience in sophisticated e-Learning technologies and access to one of the largest world-wide electronic libraries of educational assets, allows YDP to offer development of "on demand projects" for a number of reputable educational textbook publishers who wish to expand their traditional activities toward the electronic market.
YDP have won a large number of prestigious international awards in over 12 years of activity, including the EuroPrix'99 from the European Commission and the Austrian Ministry for Economic Affairs and the New Media Prize'98,’99 and 2003 from the Organising Committee of the Bologna Children Book Fair.
YDP employs over 250 dynamic and creative people from different disciplines, with over 200 of them working directly in the R&D department. YDP is constantly expanding its product lines as well as extending the number of international partners and customers.
Werner Soderstrom Corporation (WSOY), a Finnish leading book publisher and member of Sanoma WSOY, a leading Nordic media group, has been YDP’s shareholder since 1999.
Our mission is to create the most sophisticated e-educational products on the market which are able to respond to any demand of the modern education industry.
